One of the highlights of Bakubung Bush Lodge is its prime position overlooking a watering hole, where wildlife regularly gathers throughout the day. Guests can often watch elephants approach the fence line to drink and graze on the lush grass, while warthogs playfully roam the lawns. On rare and exciting occasions, even lions can be seen passing by.

The restaurant and dining area take full advantage of this incredible view, with a sweeping outlook over the bushveld and rolling mountains beyond. Guests can choose to dine indoors in a relaxed, elegant setting or outdoors on the terrace for a true “dining in nature” experience. All meals are served buffet-style, with a variety of delicious dishes that combine local flavours and international favourites.

For those who love to shop, the curio shop is the perfect place to pick up keepsakes and souvenirs — from safari-themed t-shirts and soft toys to locally crafted gifts and décor.

On certain days, the lodge also hosts a fascinating snake demonstration, where guests can learn about several snake species housed on the property and gain insight into their role in the ecosystem.

Accommodation at Bakubung is designed for comfort and convenience while maintaining a close connection to the surrounding wilderness. Rooms are housed in two-storey blocks, each featuring either a private patio (on the ground floor) or a balcony (on the upper level). Depending on your location, rooms offer tranquil views over the gardens or across the pool area — ideal spots to relax with a morning coffee or evening sundowner.

All rooms are well-equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, minibars, and tea/coffee-making facilities.

A stay at Bakubung would not be complete without experiencing the unforgettable Boma Dinner — a highlight of the week for many guests. After your afternoon game drive, you’ll be transported deep into the bush, where a magical outdoor dining setup awaits. Under a canopy of stars, enjoy a traditional buffet feast accompanied by live African music, singing, and dancing.

This lively and authentic cultural evening takes place on Wednesday and Saturday nights from 19:30 to 22:00, after which guests are returned to the lodge.
