Samara Karoo Reserve – Plains Camp is an exclusive and intimate tented safari camp set within the vast wilderness of the Great Karoo in the Eastern Cape. Surrounded by sweeping plains, rugged mountains and endless open skies, it offers a refined yet authentic safari experience in one of South Africa’s most remarkable conservation landscapes.

The camp features luxury tented accommodation designed to blend seamlessly into the natural environment. Each tent offers comfort and privacy while maintaining a close connection to the wilderness. Please note that the camp operates with minimal impact infrastructure, with no electricity in the tents, enhancing the sense of being fully immersed in nature. Warmth is provided by a fireplace in each tent, creating a cosy and atmospheric setting on chilly Karoo evenings.

Plains Camp is well known for its exceptional guided safari experiences, with expert guides leading activities in search of cheetah, lion, giraffe and a variety of other wildlife species. Guests can also enjoy breathtaking landscapes, dramatic sunsets and world-class stargazing under the clear Karoo night skies.

All meals, selected drinks and safari activities are included, offering a seamless and immersive experience. Please note that Samara Karoo Reserve – Plains Camp is closed during June, July and August each year.
