Nestled at 2,286 meters above sea level, Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge is the highest lodge in the Northern Drakensberg region. Located within the Maloti-Drakensberg Transfrontier Conservation Area, it offers breathtaking views of the iconic Sentinel Peak and the Amphitheatre.
The lodge serves as a gateway for hikers embarking on the Sentinel Peak Trail, which includes the renowned Chain Ladders route.
The Sentinel Rooms at Witsieshoek are designed to blend seamlessly into the mountain landscape, constructed with local stone and slate. Each of the eight rooms features:
Room configurations include five with extra-length king-size beds and three with extra-length twin beds. The rooms are furnished with stylish Cape Pine furniture and leather armchairs, offering a comfortable retreat after a day of hiking.

Access to Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge involves traveling on a mix of tarred and gravel roads. The final stretch includes the Witsieshoek Pass, a 12 km route that traverses both tarred and gravel sections. While a 4×4 vehicle is not mandatory, it is recommended due to the road’s condition, especially after rainfall.
