Hobatere Roadside Campsite is a simple, well-located wilderness campsite situated just outside the western entrance of Etosha National Park at the Galton Gate area. The campsite offers around 10 private stands, each with a braai area, basic shaded space, and access to shared or private ablutions with hot water showers. One of its biggest advantages is location — it sits right on the edge of Etosha’s wildlife zone, meaning guests may occasionally see wildlife passing through the area. The setting is quiet and remote, with a strong “bush” atmosphere and minimal light pollution, making for excellent stargazing at night. Guests also benefit from its proximity to the Galton Gate, making it an ideal base for early morning game drives into the less crowded western section of Etosha. It is a straightforward, no-frills campsite focused on nature, space, and easy access to the park.
