Starting and ending in Maun, this itinerary takes you through contrasting desert environments and iconic highlights of the Makgadikgadi region.
Enjoy a unique stay at Planet Baobab, famous for its ancient baobab trees, quirky charm, and laid-back desert atmosphere. From there, continue into the vast white expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans, where you’ll take part in an exhilarating quad biking adventure across the open salt flats — an otherworldly experience of speed, silence, and endless horizons.
With star-filled skies, dramatic desert scenery, and a perfect balance of relaxation and adrenaline, this journey captures the raw spirit and beauty of Botswana’s salt pan wilderness.
Take only a few items of clothing with you and leave your remaining luggage at the hotel.
Depart the lodge around 14H00.
You will be driven to an area where the quad bikes will be waiting for you. 2 people per quad bike.
Drive across the pan to the area where you will be staying for the night
Dinner is served under the stars.
Your bed is perfectly situated under the stars but far enough away from your neighbours
There are no shower facilities only a toilet
In the early morning after breakfast, head out on the quad bikes to visit the meerkat colony.
You should arrive back at the hotel around 10.30
Collect your things, communal shower facilities are available for you to use.
You will now depart the hotel and head back to Maun, with the memories of the beautiful sunset over the pans and the night sky that carries on forever.
