- US Dollars are commonly accepted for visas, park fees, and safari activities, though change is usually given in Kwacha.
Climate & Weather
- Rainy Season (Nov – Mar): Hot and humid, afternoon thunderstorms. Lush, green landscapes, great for photography and birdwatching. Some remote lodges may close.
- Shoulder Season (Apr – May): Rains taper off, bush remains green, wildlife starts moving back to permanent water sources.
- Dry Season (Jun – Oct): Most popular time for safaris. Days are warm, nights cooler, and animals gather around rivers and waterholes. Victoria Falls is spectacular early in this period, later months are good for adventure activities like rafting.
Best Time to Visit:
- June–October: Ideal for safaris and wildlife viewing.
- November–March: Lush scenery, excellent for birdwatching and photography.
Health & Safety
- Zambia is a malaria area. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended.
- Wear long sleeves in the evenings and use insect repellent.
